About the Author
Renata Salecl is a philosopher and sociologist. She is visiting professor at BIOS centre at the London School of Economics. Her previous books include On Anxiety and have been translated into ten languages. In 2010, Renata Salecel was awarded the title of "Slovenian woman scientist of the year" and in December of the same year, she was named "Slovenian person of the year" by the daily newspaper Delo

I recommend the book but...

I consider this book to be a very good diagnosis/explanation of a new social circumstance that applies to almost anyone in the western world. Although I thought it was a little opinionated in some aspects(without stating it as an opinion) this is something that is pretty much inescapable at a certain level for every writer but I wouldn't take it as the final word on the matter.

I definitely recommend this book, its not to dense and in many ways accurate but to take the most out of it I would encourage you to consciously question and contrast what you read with your personal and social experiences throughout the book.

I would certainly recommend this book to someone who is trying in figure out what's going on in the modern world. It touches on so many aspects of the modern human condition I don't know where to begin. Politics, economics, love, philosophy, gender, etc., etc. all in 150 pages. It's a dense read but a worthwhile one.

About the Author

Rodrigue Fontaine, PhD, is an assistant professor in management at the International Islamic University Malaysia. Prior to joining the IIUM faculty, he worked at Intel Corporation (UK) and Raychem Corporation (UK). Dr. Fontaine was a member of the faculty of Multimedia University (MMU) from 1999 to 2008, after which he joined the Management and Science University (MSU) in Selangor, Malaysia.

Khaliq Ahmad, PhD, is Dean, Kulliyyah (Faculty) of Economics and Management Sciences, at the International Islamic University Malaysia. Over the past 23 years, he has held various academic positions, including Deputy Dean (Research & Academic training) and Director of the Graduate School of Management. Currently, Dr. Ahmad is a member of the General Council of MIM and Vice Chairman after working as Hon. Secretary of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Malaysia (CIMM) for five years.

"Dear Black Man" is a book that allows the story of many women to be told using the words of a great writer! Ms. Fleary captures the true essence of what women have been afraid to tell their men for centuries in such a way that their men are able to receive it and not feel attacked or ridiculed. This book is a great gift for women of all ages. It will allow teenage girls to begin discerning the characteristics of a good man and allows women of an older age to be inspired and have the accurate verbiage to have these conversations with their men. Well done Ms. Fleary, WELL DONE!

I must say this book is an excellent compilation of letters. Each letter exposes and evokes so many different emotions, I personally identified with so many. Ms. Fleary did an excellent job in making sure that the reader walked away with an overall sense of positivity and empowerment about sense of self and moving forward in relationships. I'm excited to see where this author goes next.
